The VoIP Features That Businesses Must Use

Apr. 15, 2016

Businesses find that VoIP phones offer a lot of features that make their lives a lot easier. While a cell phone has its charms, it is best when used as a way to check in, keep track of messages, and allow some mobility. A VoIP service allows the business access to other services that can make life so much easier. Here are some VoIP features that we think businesses must use:

Busy Lamp Light

The busy light allows you to let other parties see if you are calling someone else and, in some cases, let them know who you are talking to.

Call Park

This feature lets you put someone on hold and then transfer the call to another phone without calling ahead. This means you can either direct the call to someone who can deal with a concern better or change rooms.

Click to Call

Click to call is a widget that can be added to your website so potential customers can give you a call with just a click.

Unique Hold Music

Instead of just playing ordinary music, you can make your hold music a spiel on other products and services your company has. If done right, then this means allow you can give the caller more information or keep them entertained while they are on hold, ensuring that you do not lose the call.

Different Ring Tone

Know who is calling by setting a different ring for each person who calls. With this, you can set a tone for VIP callers and address them immediately if they call or customize ring tones so people who share a phone will know if the call is for them or not.

Escape From Queue

If you get tired of waiting on hold, you can leave a message and a contact number to be called when it’s your turn and you have dropped the call.

Hands Free Calling

More of a convenience, but worth it when holding the phone slows you down, and all it takes is a headset.

Hoteling

This allows you to change phones while keeping the properties of the previous phones. In short, someone can call your extension and be routed to whichever phone you want them to, ensuring that your calls always end up where you are.

International Virtual Numbers

You can set up a number that goes directly to your real number while acting in all ways, including being charged, as the number being called. It not only makes you look like you are in another location but also is charged like a local number.

N-Way Calling

This allows you to have up to a dozen people in the same call, allowing you to conduct meetings without needing a conference room.

Virtual Extension

This has all of the properties of a regular voice mail number but can be used by a group. When you leave a message, anyone attached to the number knows about  which lets you get information out to a group or give them information on a lead.

By combining these services, a business gives itself an edge that may just allow it to outperform the competition and get ahead.
